If Spurs lose the Carling Cup final, do they automatically go into the UEFA Cup next season?

If Spurs lose the Carling Cup final, do they automatically go into the UEFA Cup next season? I heard a discussion on the radio which seemed to think that if the winner of the cup is in the top 6 of the league, then the next european spot goes to 7th place and not the runner up.
Please only answer in relation to the question.

unfortunately, only the winner of the carling cup and fa cup qualify for the uefa cup. if the winner is in the top 4 of the premier league and hence qualified for the champions league, then the uefa cup spot goes to the 6th and 7th placed teams in the premier league and not the runners up of the cup finals. being a spurs fan myself, i hope we do over chelsea in the final to get to the uefa cup next year, cos 6th place is looking unlikely this season.

You have to finish either 5th or 6th or 7thin the league to participate in the UEFA cup.

No. The winners of FA Cup and League Cup go into the UEFA Cup. If the FA Cup winners have already qualified for the Champions League then the FA Cup runners-up would go into UEFA, but the same rule does not apply for the League Cup. If Chelsea win the League Cup and qualify for the Champions League an extra UEFA Cup spot will be allocated based on final positions in the Premier League.

As long as they finish 5th-7th, Spurs will qualify for a UEFA cup spot regardless of whether they win the Carling Cup or not.

if Tottenham Hotspur lose in the English Carling Cup final, they will not qualify for the UEFA Cup next season. teams which finish in 5th, 6th & 7th in the Premiership will qualify for the UEFA Cup.

If Spurs lose the Carling Cup final, they won't automatically go into the UEFA Cup unless they win the FA Cup.Unfortunately Man United will knock Spurs out in the FA Cup 4th round.

Nope. Carling Cup runners up do not qualify for the UEFA Cup.
