CARDIFF City fans camped through freezing temperatures overnight as the scramble for 31,000 Carling Cup final tickets began today.

But some supporters reported problems with the e-ticketing service provided by distribution company Ticketline for the Wembley clash with Liverpool in a fortnight – including the option to buy a second ticket for ambassadors who have renewed for next season.

Many said they had spent long periods online or on the phone before being unable to purchase the second ticket.

And the club later issued a statement saying it was working to resolve problems “as soon as possible”.

A club statement said: “An update at 1.30pm said The second ticket option for qualifying renewing Season Ticket Holders is currently undergoing problems via the online Ticket Master e-ticketing service.

“This is being investigated and will be resolved as soon as possible.”

The first tickets for the Wembley clash with Liverpool in a fortnight’s time went on sale to “club ambassadors” only at the Cardiff City Stadium from 9am today.

Many supporters got to the Cardiff City Stadium well before the ticket office opened – with those at the very front of the queue having camped out from 6pm the night before.

Many more joined in the early hours of yesterday and by 9am a queue ran the length of the ground’s Canton Stand, inside the stadium and the length of the Ninian Stand.

At the front were Clare Coleman, 25, from Splott, and mother Suzanne, 45, from Llanedeyrn.

They were the very first ticket hunters to arrive on Saturday evening, pitching up with a sleeping bag and camping stove at 6pm on Saturday.

Clare said: “It’s been amazing. We have got a good bit of banter.

“At first of all there were seven of us and some other people came about half nine-ish and then the majority of people didn’t turn up til three or four o’clock.

“From the last Wembley trip we came early but there was quite a big queue. But we made sure we got here bright and early.

“We had someone singing to us: ‘You daft so and sos’.

“I bet they don’t think that now if they are all the way at the back of the queue.”

Football ticket websites are already offering Carling Cup final tickets for sale for hundreds of pounds.

An announcement on tickets is due tomorrow and Cardiff City has stressed that any information before then is rumour.

But with fervour growing for tickets, websites have sprung up offering fans who might not be guaranteed a place at Wembley the chance to buy tickets – albeit for more than £100 each.

One website was last night offering tickets for Bluebirds supporters in the corporate section for £323, with prices at the lower end pitched between £237 and £307.

That comes after the Football League said prices for City fans would be set as £90 for the best seats in category one, £72 for category two seats, £56 for category three and £40 in category four.

Half price tickets will be available on all categories for senior citizens and under-16s.

The Bluebirds and fellow finalists Liverpool have each been given 31,000 tickets and City’s more than 18,000 season ticket holders are likely to get first option.

Cardiff City Supporters’ Club (CCSC) has finalised its travel arrangements for the big match on February 26, with the cost of coach travel at £25 for adults and £20 for seniors. New members will be charged £30 for adults and £25 for seniors.

It will cost £20 for children and young adults and £15 for accompanied under-16s.

CCSC stressed that coach travel is available to members only – non-members must join the club to travel.

A £1 donation has been added to all coach fares, to raise funds towards the Fred Keenor Statue Fund.

A statement from CCSC said: “If we can get everyone behind this – there’s no reason why people travelling up in minibuses and cars cannot get into the spirit of things either, we could raise a considerable chunk to get us nearer the target.

“Wouldn’t it be great if at the end of a season when Cardiff City have reached another major domestic cup final, we could finally get to see Fred with the FA Cup as a permanent fixture outside our stadium?”

I Can't Wait for the game with Liverpool and Cardiff!

Liverpool will play Cardiff City in the English League Cup final after a thrilling 2-2 draw at home against Manchester City completed a 3-2 aggregate success for Kenny Dalglish’s side. Cardiff v Liverpool Tickets

The Premier League leaders twice took the lead at Anfield thanks to goals in either half from Nigel de Jong and Edin Džeko but the hosts responded swiftly on both occasions with Steven Gerrard’s penalty and Craig Bellamy’s strike booking a place in the showpiece on 26 February.

City cancelled out the hosts’ first-leg advantage when De Jong curled in a sublime effort from distance after 31 minutes. Gerrard’s penalty had separated the sides in the first meeting and when Micah Richards was penalised for handball nine minutes later, the Reds’ captain again registered from the spot.

Joe Hart made a string of saves to keep Roberto Mancini’s men in the tie and his interventions appeared decisive when Aleksandar Kolarov’s cross was turned in by Džeko midway through the second half.

Liverpool roused themselves again, however, and Bellamy made it 2-2 after 74 minutes by exchanging passes with Glen Johnson before sweeping in a low finish to secure a place in the final against Championship side Cardiff.

Cardiff made to to Wembley after beating Crystal Palace 3-1 on penalties Tiesday. Anthony Gardner, who scored the only goal of the first leg, headed past his own goalkeeper to give Cardiff an early lead and level the aggregate score. The visitors forced extra time, though, despite the second-half dismissal of Patrick McCarthy only to fall in the shoot-out.

He scored 44 goals in 198 games for the Gunners. After a two-year spell with West Brom, Kanu joined Portsmouth in 2006 and he played in two FA Cup finals, scoring the winning goal against Cardiff in the 2008 showpiece at Wembley. His international success includes a Fifa under-17 World Cup title in 1993 and the 1996 Olympic football gold medal. Kanu's individual honours include African Footballer of the Year awards in 1996 and 1999. He finished in sixth place at the 1996 Fifa World Player of the Year gala. The criticism reached fever pitch over the last six months, with the pitch playing badly on several showpiece occasions including the Carling Cup final, the FA Cup final and several England internationals. The debate was also a factor in the departure of the former FA chief executive Ian Watmore, who was angry about the use of the stadium for rugby union fixtures.
Wembley Stadium will hope the new pitch will reassure Uefa ahead of next season's Champions League final and provide comfort to Fifa ahead of a crucial phase in England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup. "Should the FA be successful in its bid to host the 2018 Fifa World Cup, the pitch will be used entirely for football in that calendar year through until the completion of the tournament," it promised yesterday. After English club Chelsea, who won both the premiership and the FA Cup last season, did not renew Ballack's contract after four years, he received offers from German clubs Wolfsburg and Hamburg as well as English clubs Liverpool and Tottenham. There were also reports of offers from other European clubs.

The club was formed as Lyon Olympique Universitaire in 1899, according to many supporters and sport historians, but was nationally established as a club in 1950. Their most successful period has been the 21st century. The club won their first ever Ligue 1 championship in 2002, starting a national record-breaking streak of seven successive titles. Lyon have also won a record seven Trophée des Champions, four Coupe de France titles, and three Ligue 2 Championships. They have appeared in the UEFA Champions League eleven times, but have not progressed further than the quarter-finals.HistoryAt the start of the new millennium, Olympique Lyonnais began to achieve unlimited success in French football. During this time, the club established themselves as the premiere club in France upending the likes of Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain and also becoming the country's richest club and one of the most popular. Lyon became known for developing promising talent, who would not only achieve greatness in France, but also abroad and internationally. Notable examples include Michael Essien, Florent Malouda, Juninho Pernambucano, Cris, Éric Abidal, Mahamadou Diarra, Patrick Müller, and Karim Benzema, to name a few. Lyon won their first ever Ligue 1 championship in 2002, starting a national record-breaking streak of seven successive titles. During that span, the club also won one Coupe de France title, their first Coupe de la Ligue title, and a record six Trophée des Champions. The club also performed well in UEFA competition reaching as far as the quarter-finals on three occasions in the UEFA Champions League. Lyon's streak and consistent dominance of French football came to an end during the 2008–09 season, when they were dethroned of their league title by Bordeaux.
Ownership and financesOlympique Lyonnais is owned by Rhône businessman Jean-Michel Aulas, who acquired the club on 15 June 1987. He serves as the founder and chief operating officer of CEGID (Compagnie Européenne de Gestion par l'Informatique Décentralisée). After riddling the club of its debt, Aulas restructured the club's management and reorganized the finances and, in a span of two decades, transformed the club from a second division team into one of the richest football clubs in the world. However, Aulas has been lambasted for, according to critics, running the club as if it were a business. The club currently operates on the European Stock Exchange under the name OL Groupe, initialed OLG.
Training centerThe Centre Tola Vologe is the training center and club headquarters of Olympique Lyonnais. It is located in the city of Lyon, not far from the Stade de Gerland. The facility is named after Anatole Tologe, commonly called Tola Vologe, who was a Lyon sportsmen and was murdered by the Gestapo during World War II. The facility is known for its high-level training and several prominent players have passed through the youth training center.
Statistics and recordsThe club's all-time leading scorer is Fleury Di Nallo, who scored 182 goals while at the club from 1960 to 1974. Di Nallo is also third behind Chiesa and Coupet in all time appearances having played in 489 matches during his 14-year stint at the club. Despite Di Nallo's impressive goalscoring record, he doesn't hold the record for most goals scored during a league season. That distinction goes to Bourg-en-Bresse-born André Guy who notched 25 goals, which he attained during the 1968–69 season.Lyon's biggest victory is 10–0, which occurred of two occasions against Ajaccio in the 1953–54 edition of the Coupe de France and, two seasons later, against Delle in the 1955–56 edition of the competition. Lyon's biggest league victory is 7–0 and also occurred on two occasions. The first being during the 1966–67 season against Angers and the second being against Marseille during the 1997–98 season. The club's biggest victory on the European stage occurred during the 1974–75 season. Lyon hammered Luxembourg-based club FA Red Boys Differdange 7–0.
